III. There are many possible solutions to this problem. The possible solutions are: (Two articles must be attached and annotated bibliography) There are a couple possible solutions to euthanasia. One of them can be to only allow it in certain situations. For example, sickness of the person is irreversible and there is no possible way of the person ever gaining his health, or in other words the person is depending on medical technology to survive, then that would be a case in which euthanasia should be allowed. Another solution to it can be to have the person requesting doctor assisted suicide to go through the court system, in which a judge would review the person’s case and decide whether or not euthanasia should be used. Alois Geiger, a physician at the Dignitas Center in Switzerland, believes assisted suicide is a valid medical decision. "How does it look though when an illness occupies more and more space in one's life or when life is coming rapidly to a close ...? Or when one's despair is so enduring that even long-term psychiatric help cannot give real assistance?" Treatment from psychiatrists should be offered before any decision is made. Euthanasia will not be allowed in every person who is terminally ill, only for those who choose to end their pain. In an article by Anne Mcllroy, a democrat, Svend Robinson, speaks his thoughts on euthanasia. “An angry Mr. Robinson said that allowing euthanasia and doctor-assisted suicide, with strict controls, would not mean that harm would come... He said the proposal aims to allow people who are ill and in pain and suffering from a terminal illness to choose to end their lives” (Mcllroy). The individual will have to be the one requesting it, unless he is incapable to make the decision himself. If he cannot, then closest family member should decide. Patients requesting euthanasia should be terminally ill or on life support. They should be examined several times to verify their sickness and also should be examined by a psychiatrist to confirm if they cannot be helped, in case of depression. The patient must be eighteen years old or older.
V. I (we) think this solution will work because: (You must use factual information to prove your solution will work) The ill person does not want to suffer anymore. They should be allowed to die with dignity, if they choose to. If the death penalty in allowed in certain states such as, Texas, Washington, and Nebraska, why wouldn't euthanasia?
